In response to the rapidly evolving events surrounding the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), the American Cheese Society (ACS) acknowledges potential concerns impacting our members and community. We value and respect the investment and confidence placed in ACS during this uncertain time and appreciate your support. Please know that ACS is monitoring the situation closely and working to establish appropriate plans.
Our primary goal has always been to provide support and resources to our members. This goal has only become clearer and more urgent as we watch our industry struggle. To help alleviate some of this, our team has curated a list of resources across a variety of topics for you, which we’ll continue to refresh. We hope that you find it valuable and helpful in checking a few things off your own lists.
We are committed to sharing vital information as it affects our members and community and will do so on this page and through member communication channels.
As part of this process, a task force committee has been formed to address our current plans for Blazing the Trail for Cheese and certification exams in Portland this summer. We will share updates and keep you apprised should changes to this event be anticipated. As a reminder, please check this page for up-to-date information as it may impact your travel and planning needs.
Support and Save Local Cheesemakers and Shops:
Looking to purchase cheese to get you through a shelter-in-place order? Our friends Janet Fletcher and Culture Magazine are curating lists of cheesemakers and shops that you can order from for pickup, local delivery, or online delivery. Retailers, help support a local cheesemaker by stocking their cheese at your store or even allowing them to deliver to you directly if they don’t have a distributor.
If you have any questions, please contact us.
Will conference be cancelled or postponed?
A task force committee was formed to address our current plans for Blazing the Trail for Cheese and certification exams in Portland this summer. As of now we are proceeding with our plans for Blazing the Trail for Cheese and certification exams but while the task force committee continues to discuss these plans, we pledge to share updates on our website and other channels in a timely fashion.
Are you extending the Pre-Registration Deadline due to the pandemic?
We hear your concerns surrounding the evolving uncertainty for many of you as members. As such, ACS Pre-Registration has been extended to April 15 to offer additional relief during these economic times.
Are there additional financial resources available to me? I want to attend but can’t afford it.
We strongly encourage our members to apply for ACS Conference Scholarships available for both full and partial scholarships to conference. In response to COVID-19, we are extending the deadline to April 15 for additional submissions.
Can I get a refund? Does this change if the conference is cancelled?
The current annual ACS conference registration cancellation and refund policy can be found here. We will post coronavirus-specific refund policies applicable for registration and sponsors to our COVID-19 Updates webpage as we continue to monitor the situation and develop plans to adjust as needed.
Has the Meet the Cheesemaker Pre-Registration been extended?
We understand your businesses may need time to assess additional conference involvement. As such, Pre-Registration for Meet the Cheesemaker is also extended to April 15 to match revised conference registration deadlines.
Has the deadline to apply for ACS Certifications been extended?
We recognize the cheese community needs more time to make decisions around applying for the ACS CCP™ Exam and T.A.S.T.E Test® and in response we’ve extended the deadline to apply for those to April 30.
