Volunteers are the heart of ACS. As an active non-profit membership organization, our organization relies on and values the support of our volunteer leaders who share their passion, knowledge, time, and talents to advance the association and the wider cheese industry. We strive to create an atmosphere of engagement, camaraderie, diversity, community, professional growth, respect – and fun – for our volunteers, and are dedicated to ensuring that volunteers feel appreciated and recognized for their contributions.
Our Board of Directors is an active and engaged group of industry leaders who are deeply committed to ACS’s mission. The Board is tasked with fiduciary oversight and the long-term strategic growth of the organization.
Peer leadership is what moves our organization forward. Our work and programming is accomplished through the collaborative volunteer efforts provided by ACS committee members and advisors. These key organizational volunteers work with the ACS Management Team to execute the Conference, Competition, Certifications and ACS educational resources, as well as provide support and advice to the Board of Directors.
The ACS Conference & Competition takes place with the support of hundreds of volunteers who contribute their time to help make our events successful. Volunteers assist with many behind the scenes aspects of conference and competition events, and the time commitment varies from from helping out for just a few hours to filling key volunteer roles include the Official Conference Cheesemongers, Back of House Team, and Volunteer Coordinator.
