ACS Conference Scholarships

Scholarships are available to help you attend the ACS Annual Conference. Funding for these scholarships comes from the American Cheese Education Foundation, the John Crompton Memorial Retailer Fund, the Comté Association Conference Fund, and support from ACS. Types of Scholarships

Recipients may be awarded a Partial Scholarship that covers a complimentary Conference registration, or a Full Scholarship that covers a Conference registration plus travel and lodging. The number of scholarships available for each type varies year-to-year based on how much funding is available.

Partial Scholarship

Recipients receive a complimentary full Conference registration.

Full scholarships

Recipients receive four nights’ hotel accommodation in the Conference host city, up to $600 toward travel expenses, and a complimentary full Conference registration.

Application Period

The application period opens January 16th for each year’s Conference and closes on March 31. Scholarship recipients are selected by the ACS Scholarship Selection Panels.

The deadline to apply for the newly available Comté Association Conference Scholarship is June 17, 2019.

Scholarship Eligibility Requirements and Applications 

Cheesemaker Scholarship
Cheesemaker Scholarship applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Have never attended an ACS Conference

Student Scholarship
Student Scholarship applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Be enrolled in a degree-granting institution
  • Have never attended an ACS Conference

Chef Scholarship
Chef Scholarships are Partial Scholarships that cover conference registration only. Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Currently employed as a cook or chef
  • Have never attended an ACS Conference

Comté Association Conference Fund- APPLY NOW
Administered by the American Cheese Education (ACE) Foundation, The Comté Association Conference Fund is open to all applicants who have been accepted to take the Certified Cheese Professional® (CCP) exam and seek to attend the American Cheese Society’s annual conference following the exam.  Scholarships awarded through this fund will cover the cost of a full conference registration and the ACS Scholarship Selection Panel will select the recipient (s) based on need. Scholarship applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Be accepted to take the current year’s Certified Cheese Professional® Exam

John Crompton Memorial Retailer Scholarship
This scholarship was named in honor of John Crompton, a cheese retailer who was passionate about education. His friends and colleagues developed and funded this award to continue his legacy. The award is for members of the specialty food retail trade who exhibit enthusiasm and dedication to the cheese industry. John Crompton Memorial Retailer Scholarship applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Be employed by a specialty food retailer
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • Have never attended an ACS Conference

Scholarship Recipient Responsibilities and Conditions

  • Applicant must attend the entire length of the ACS Conference.
  • In case the applicant is unable to attend, the award must be returned. The applicant may re-apply to attend a future conference.
  • The award is not transferable.
  • Winners are required to submit an essay after attending the conference describing their experience.
