Valley Shepherd continues to expand with new products in both hand made raw milk cheese and pasteurized fresh products.
We are looking for individuals who would join our internship/apprentice program and decide after 6 months if this is the right lifestyle for them.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
As an intern/apprentice :cheesemaking, affinage, farm markets.
As a cheesemaker: cheesemaking, affinage, management , daily production decisions.
Skills & Experience
Great passion for cheese and cheese making. no fear of rotating equipment including vats, pumps and compressors.
Desired Licensing or Certification

cheesemaking in a farmstead setting requires long hours, strong shoulders and stamina. The right individual gets a kick out of seeing the fruit of their labor become a desirable artisan product.
Drive, innovation and no fear of trying new approaches are all traits of a great cheesemaker and it probably takes a person 2-3 years to figure out if this is what they want to do with their life.
