The ACS Conference & Competition takes place with the support of hundreds of volunteers who contribute their time to help make our events successful. Key volunteers include the Conference Leadership Training Program which includes an eight-member Conference Back of House Team.
This team is a vital part of making ACS conference successful, working to streamline conference food receiving, inventory, preparation, and safety for all conference events including food tasting sessions, meals, ACS Judging & Competition, and Cheese Sale.
ACS CONFERENCE BACK OF HOUSE TEAM
Official Conference Cheesemongers (3): Create displays of cheese and accompaniments for all conference meals, sessions, and events, practicing safe handling, storage, and transport of all food and overseeing a team to volunteers.
Product Manager: Works closely with the Inventory Manager and Judging & Competition team to ensure the safe transition of competition to the Cheese Sale.
Receiving Manager: Oversees conference receiving day including a large group of volunteers, ensuring all products are received, cataloged, organized, handled, and accounted for safely.
Inventory Manager: Manages and tracks all products and supplies throughout conference, ensuring they are handled and stored safely, and working with the ACS Event Management Team to execute delivery of products for sessions and events.
Cheese Sale Manager: Oversees creative and logistical execution of the Cheese Sale including managing a large team of volunteers for preparation and set-up.
Back of House Manager: Oversees all aspects of the Conference BOH Team and their deliverables. Works with the ACS Event Management Team to execute all conference functions that involve BOH.

Hours (may vary by role):
May – July, 4-6 hours per month for planning calls, Conference preparation work, and more.
July, 4-10 days behind the scenes at the ACS Conference depending on the role. Team members should anticipate working extended hours averaging 12 hours per day.

The Conference Back of House Team consists of highly-skilled, experienced cheese professionals recruited and selected by the ACS Management Team and serve for multiple years.
