Clay Detlefsen, International Dairy Foods Association

Clay Detlefsen is vice president of regulatory affairs and counsel for the International Dairy Foods Association (IDFA). Clay leads IDFA’s efforts in many diverse and unique areas for the dairy processing industry. He has primary responsibility for issues related to the implementation of the Food Safety Modernization Act, sustainability, FDA inspections, food defense, worker safety and environmental issues and supports other staff on communication issues. He is engaged in numerous homeland security activities and is co-chair to the Food and Agricultural Sector Coordinating Council (FASCC), a presidentially mandated partnership between government and private sector. Clay has a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Microbiology, an MBA in finance and a law degree. He has been a member of the Maryland Bar since 1997 and works on a variety legal issues including contracts, antitrust and statutory and regulatory interpretation. Clay has been with IDFA for over 23 years.
