Erin Clancy

2015 Official Conference Cheesemonger

Erin ClancyErin started working in the food industry at a young age, but it was not until she started working with cheese that she found her passion. In 2006, she graduated with a B.A. in Food and Beverage Management from Kendall College but realized she missed working with food directly. She began working for Whole Foods Market in 2007 for a more hands-on job. In 2008, she moved to New York City to open the TriBeCa store as the coffee buyer. Within months she was brought over to the cheese department. It was after trying Tomme du Berger that Erin realized her love for cheese. Since, she has worked at the Union Square and Bowery stores in Manhattan and the Franklin store in San Francisco. In October 2014, she became Team Leader at the newest Berkeley store and continues to sling cheese behind the counter sharing her passion with customers.

Besides work, Erin has pushed herself personally to learn more about cheese. She attends festivals and conferences, like the Vermont Cheese Festival and ACS. She traveled through Western Europe visiting shops and worked a shift at Neal’s Yard Dairy. She attended a weeklong study session at the Wisconsin Center for Dairy Research while preparing for the  ACS CCP™ exam, which she passed in 2013. At the 2014 ACS conference, she ran the cheese sale, which was a huge success. She also participates in friendly competitions like the Cheesemonger Invitational to meet and talk cheese with fellow mongers.
