    If you’re planning on attending the 2014 ACS Conference in Sacramento, we recommend that you book your travel and lodging as early as possible. Below are links to resources that may be helpful as you plan your trip, as well as links to ACS’s official conference hotel.

    Travel to Sacramento

    Getting to Sacramento by plane:

    • Sacramento International Airport (SMF) (Sacramento, CA): Offering direct non-stop service from: Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Denver, Philadelphia, Phoenix, New York, Seattle, and Washington, DC.

    Transportation to Sacramento from San Francisco and Oakland

    Are you flying into San Francisco or Oakland for the ACS Conference? Below are some suggested modes of transportation to Sacramento from either city.

    From San Francisco:

    • Join one of the great Conference Tours starting in San Francisco! Several of the tours start in San Francisco and include transport to Sacramento, so if you’d like to visit regional cheesemakers, retailers, and other specialty food producers en route to Sacramento, a tour may be a great option!
    • Take Megabus ( to Sacramento.  Fares for this trip, approximately 2 hours in length, vary but generally range from $1-$9 each way.
    • Take BART from San Francisco International Airport Station to Coliseum/Oakland Airport Station (approximately $10 for a 1-hour ride), and then take Amtrak from Oakland (Coliseum/Oakland Airport Station) to Sacramento (see below for fares).
    • Take Super Shuttle directly to your hotel in Sacramento. Prices vary but are more affordable for group transportation – vans may transport up to 9 individuals at once.

    From Oakland:

    • Take Amtrak to Sacramento. Fares range from approximately $60-$112 roundtrip for an approximately 2 hour 15 minutes trip.
    • Take Super Shuttle directly to your hotel in Sacramento. Prices vary but are more affordable for group transportation – vans may transport up to 9 individuals at once.

    Traveling by Car:

    • Sacramento is located just 90 miles from San Francisco, 80 miles from Oakland, 50 miles from Lake Tahoe and just 50 miles from Napa. Find complete Sacramento maps and transportation at the Sacramento Visitor’s Bureau.

    Visit California Cheesemakers: Regional Tourism

    When you’re booking your flight and hotel, consider spending time before or after the ACS Conference visiting some of the region’s artisan and specialty cheesemakers!
