Introduction to Food Microbiology

The University of Idaho, Boise State University, TechHelp, Washington State University Extension, IFT and NWFPA are pleased to announce the dates and instructor for our Introduction to Food Microbiology Short course for summer 2007.  Introduction to Food Microbiology is a must for those working as QA/QC technicians, microbiology technicians or simply someone interested in food microbiology lab activities.  With the recent scares we’ve had in the US in our food supply, Food Microbiology becomes yet even more important and this short course gives the student a solid foundation while at the same time giving them an excellent foundation for the Advanced Food Microbiology Short Course being prepared for the Summer of 08.  The course is being taught by Dr. Dong-Hyun Kang, Ph.D, of Washington State University.  Dr. Kang is an Extension Food Microbiologist in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition and has been with Washington State since 2000 and addresses all aspects of applied food microbiology in his duties.  He also conducts research on Rapid Methods of detection of pathogens and spoilage organisms in foods.  As an extension microbiologist he also works with industry solving problems associated with microbiology.  This short course is only offered every other year and is limited to 24 seats to ensure individualized attention making early registration very important.  Following are times, dates and registration information.

                        Course Dates:  August 13, 2007 through August 17, 2007. (Course is 4 & ½ days long)
                        Class Times:  8am – 5pm Mon-Thurs, 8am to noon Friday.
                        Location:  Boise State University, Boise, Idaho.  Room and building details to follow.|
                                  Fees:  Standard                                                 $995/person
                                  Early Bird (before June 14, 2007)                         $925/Person
                                  Group Fee                                                         $850/person (applies to two or more attendees from the same organization)
