I’m honored and grateful to be a part of the ACS Official Conference Cheesemonger team in Denver, CO.  Since earning my ACS CCP® credential, I’ve focused on food education through the medium of my Cheesemonger profession at Beecher’s Handmade Cheese.

I moved from the Detroit, MI area to Port Townsend, WA in 2001, working with food and catering businesses. My next venture was in San Diego, working in hospitality for the Sheraton Hotel & Marina as Restaurant Outlet Manager. Soon after, I became General Manager at Ryan Brothers Coffee before moving back to the Pacific Northwest. I then joined Mt. Townsend Creamery as Retail Sales Manager, creating their storefront and beginning my cheese education. I spent four years making, aging, selling, and educating the Northwest community about cheese.

I came to Beecher’s Handmade Cheese in 2012 as Head Cheesemonger, working with our customers at the cheese counters in Seattle’s Pike Place Market, Seatac Airport, Bellevue Square and New York’s Flatiron District.

Cheesemongering has provided me a venue to share with the community, giving me the opportunity to re-claim my natural birthright, to know and understand our food system. I am better prepared, inspired, and motivated to actively and consciously with specific intention, take part in all that our food offers. I am able to sustain a healthy life and to be a caretaker of the earth through the medium of cheese.

In Seattle’s Pike Place Market and New York City’s Flatiron District, visitors to Beecher’s glass-walled cheesemaking kitchens witness firsthand the crafting of their signature favorite, Flagship cheese, as well as many of the other award-winning cheeses Beecher’s has to offer. By starting with fresh, pure milk from local farms and applying the traditional methods used by cheesemakers for thousands of years, Beecher’s cheeses are free of artificial ingredients, making them just as delicious as the milk they are made from.

In fact, everything produced by Beecher’s, from the handcrafted cheeses to the delicious side dishes and crackers, is authentic, original, full-flavored food made with ingredients they trust and are proud of. In keeping with Beecher’s commitment to pure food, Beecher’s contributes 1% of all sales to the Beecher’s Pure Food Kids Foundation, empowering kids to make healthy food choices for life.
